As part of the 2025 Club’s annual agronomic plan, micro-aeration of the greens will take place on:
-
North Course → Tuesday 21 October
-
South Course → Tuesday 28 October
This maintenance work helps to preserve the outstanding playing quality of our courses throughout the year.
Micro-aeration involves creating small perforations on the green surface to improve the soil profile, enhancing the distribution of nutrients, water and oxygen in the root system. Depending on the tools used, it may be done with or without solid tines, both techniques designed to relieve compaction and improve soil aeration.
As our Head Greenkeeper, Mr. José Luís Prados explains: “Micro-aeration improves the soil profile, helping nutrients, water and oxygen reach the roots more effectively. The light topdressing afterwards improves ball roll, firmness and protects the plant collar.”
These operations have little to no effect on play, and the greens usually recover within two days, returning swiftly to their ideal conditions.
All works are part of a flexible agronomic plan that can be adjusted depending on weather and course conditions — because at the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, every detail matters in maintaining the excellence and vitality of our Club.
